Data Subject: Individuals linked to Personal Information, like a house buyer.

Responsible Party: Determines data collection purposes and processing methods.

Operator: Processes data on behalf of the Responsible Party, following set terms and ensuring data security.

Each of the Eight Conditions for processing Personal Information includes specific requirements for data processing. The Act details eight key conditions for processing Personal Information as summarised below:

  • Accountability: Responsible Parties must ensure compliance and oversee Operators' data handling.
  • Processing Limitation: Data must be relevant and collected lawfully with a legal basis.
  • Purpose Specification: Information collection must serve a specific lawful purpose.
  • Further Processing Limitation: Data should only be used for its original intended purpose.
  • Information Quality: Data accuracy and completeness must be maintained.
  • Openness: Organisations must document data processing and inform Data Subjects.
  • Security Safeguards: Data confidentiality and integrity must be preserved.
  • Data Subject Participation: Data Subjects can verify, correct, or request deletion of their data.
