Role overview

The Junior Data Analyst will assist with maintaining and growing coverage of the Lightstone Spatial Data Framework. Some of the key responsibilities include:

  • Maintain and grow coverage of the Lightstone Spatial Data Framework
  • Create, maintain, and analyse spatial data.
  • Geocoding
  • Digitising
  • Client query support
  • Source and process 3rd party spatial data
  • Client deliveries related to spatial data
  • spatial data visualisation:
  • Cartography and visualisation of spatial data
  • Preparation of geospatial client deliverables including maintenance of supporting data lookups etc

Qualifications

  • BSc (Geosciences) / BSc. Hons (GIS)
  • Diploma/NQF 6 – Business Analysis

Experience

  • 2-3 years relevant technical experience
  • Solid experience is GIS Software (MapInfo, ArcGIS or similar)
  • Solid experience in all Microsoft products (SQL, SSMS)
  • Experience with Business Intelligence dashboard development withPowerBI or similar BI tools
  • Experience effecting business practice change is an advantage

Technical skills

  • Above average Transact-SQL skills
  • Experience using DML and DDL – minimum 2 years of experience
  • Performance tuning of MS SQL scripts
  • Python (advantageous)
  • Understanding Data Normalization principles
  • Good working knowledge of spatial data and experience working with geometry datatypes
  • Ability to adapt to different programming tools based on project at hand
  • Proficient in automation of processes and troubleshooting

Non-technical skills
