Role Overview
To monitor and review all financial data and prepare accurate statements for relevant entity. The Financial Accountant's responsibilities include financial reporting, budgeting and managing tax payments. The role will require cost and revenue analysis and ensuring that all accounting transactions comply with the law and support the company's investments. Will work closely with the Head: Finance Shared Services.
Qualifications
- Matric /Grade 12
- Completed Degree / Diploma in Finance or Accounting
Experience
- Minimum of 7 years work experience in similar role
- Insurance Industry Experience Preferential but not Essential
- Xero & Sage Evolution Software Experience Preferential but not Essential
Technical skills
- Solid knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
- Good computer skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Analysing and reporting on financial status including income statement variances.
- Prepare monthly schedules (pre-payments, fixed assets, accruals, provisions etc)
- Prepare & process monthly journals.
- Preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual accounting activities including reconciliation of accounts, coordinating and completion of annual audits, and reviewing financial reports including corporate reporting for consolidation.
- Reconciling long term borrowings and instalment agreements to amortization schedules.
- Review & reconciling balance sheets.
- Import & process payroll journals. Reconcile Payroll reports.
- Ensuring that all statutory filings are filed on time i.e. financial statements, taxes, VAT, withholding taxes and any other filings required by local laws.
- Useful lives and assessment values on fixed asset register.
- Assist with the provision of documentation required for audit fieldwork performed during the external audit process and BEE audit.
- Ensuring that the financial accounting and reporting follow statutory and corporate requirements. This relates to monthly, quarterly and annual reporting and ensuring that all reporting happens within the timelines and deadlines set.
- Ensuring that an effective and efficient control environment is in place, in line with the company's internal control policies and regulatory environment. This will include but is not limited to Revenue Recognition; Reserve Accounting and Accruals.
- Signing off bank recons, credit card recons, supplier recons.
- Release payments
- Assist with monthly cashflow forecast
- Accounts Payables management and adherence to SLA's, overseeing Debtors management and driving the reduction in DSO days (Days Sales Outstanding) and optimising cash flow
- Any ad-hoc duties which are assigned.
