Role Overview
The strategic Lightstone Group Analytics unit or A-team consists of industry focused nuclear teams in business intelligence and predictive analytics supported by a cross-industry production analytics team driving the automation, improvement and standardisation of our insights products and processes. The goal of this is to ensure awide exposure for individuals in those teams and allow better opportunities for collaboration and knowledge sharing.
This position is for a Data Scientist in the Predictive Data Science team with the individual’s focus being on the Automotive cluster. The successful candidate will be responsible for contributing to a range of projects and various efforts within the team including the below aspects:
- Investigation, design, and implementation of improvements to existing predictive models & analytical products in the automotive and consumer survey/market research industries.
- Implementing tests of prototype predictive models & products with a philosophy of rapid iteration and failing fast.
- Investigating potential and quality of new data sources.
- Prototyping Business Intelligence products and handing over to Business Intelligence and Production teams.
- Handling ad hoc queries relating to predictive models & products.
- Create and deliver value towards the greater team and company vision with regular involvement in technical knowledge sharing (peer coaching) sessions.
- Assisting Data team with improvements to data structures and environments.
- Assisting Software Development team with creating specification requirements for product development.
- Presenting at monthly review sessions and staff updates to inform broader business of team progress.
- Opportunities to participate in client presentations.
Qualifications
- BCom/BSc Honours/MCom/MSc in Statistics, Mathematics or Computer Science preferred.
- Proven statistical model building experience beneficial.
- PhD advantageous.
Experience
1 – 4 years relevant experience.
Technical Skills
- Above average ability to work with, analyse, interpret, and report on data.
- Knowledge of statistical concepts and techniques as well as practical application of these techniques.
- Python, Power BI & SQL (SSMS) experience required.
- SAS Base, R experience, familiarity with Docker containers and predictive model deployment in Microsoft Azure advantageous.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Advanced Excel preferred).
- Working with virtualised applications and programming environments.
- Ability to adapt to programming environments based on the project at hand.
- Professional approach to report writing, documentation and other written communications.
- Familiarity with Agile concepts and their application in a Data Science environment.
